Kanonkop is now ‘Stinkkop’

The Boskrans Sewer Works in July 2014.

The smell is believed to be coming from Boskrans wastewater treatment works.

The disgusting smell has been engulfing  various parts of Middelburg, with areas most affected being Dennesig and Kanonkop, since Sunday.

Geese have no choice but to swim in the Klein Olifants, contaminated by waste water from Boskrans.

As a result, residents are frustrated at the inability by the municipality to solve the problem – which has been ongoing for years.

This is how some residents reacted on social media:

Deirdre Grobler Cloete: Jip. Dis bitter erg.
